Are you a gamer in Myanmar? Do you like playing games on EA’s Origin service? Popular games, like FIFA, Titanfall 2, Star Wars Battlefront, Battlefield, etc..? Then you’re out of luck.

According to a user on Reddit who lives in Myanmar, he has been blocked from accessing all of his purchased games from EA’s Origin Service. Multiple attempts from the user only results him getting the message, “Origin is no longer available in Myanmar.”

The thread exploded on Reddit, where users were helpful in trying find a workaround, but that doesn’t help the larger issue of a massive organization blocking paying users from an entire country from accessing their games.

The Reddit user did contact Origin, who told him that “…with the Origin 10 update, US laws forced them to block certain countries. Unfortunately you live in one of those countries. I’m sorry but there is nothing we can do here to allow you access again.”

Not so fast. Sanctions against Myanmar do not prohibit US companies from doing business in Myanmar. EA may be likely hedging their bets to any potential legal liability, and jumped the gun.
