According to GamesIndustry.biz, walking simulator (KIDDING!) developer Kojima Productions will be dipping its toes into the music, television, and film industries. The new studio will be based in Los Angeles, California.
This will not be some fly-by-night operation as there is some serious leadership put at the helm. The new division will be led by Riley Russell, who has been a Sony mainstay for 28 years in various roles at Playstation including chief legal officer, and VP of business affairs.
It always seemed like Hideo Kojima was destined to be in the film industry as his games have always been grandiose. Even though I’m a believer that games have become a superior medium for storytelling, I’m glad to see that Kojima is realizing a dream of his.
