The Google Stadia launch is just around the corner, but there are still hazy details. Some of those details were clarified when Google Stadia director of product, Andrey Doronichev, finished up a recent Reddit AMA
For those that thought Google Stadia was going to be a Netflix for games, well prepare to have your bubble busted.
“To be clear, Stadia Pro is not Netflix for Games like some people have mentioned, a closer comparison would be like Xbox Live Gold or Playstation Plus. The Pro subscribers get 4K/HDR streaming, 5.1 sound, exclusive discounts and access to some free games.”

It seems like the more information that gets released about the Stadia, the less impressed I am. Other then streaming, the Stadia is very similar to tried and true consoles.
Below are some additional details from the AMA.
- The Stadia Pro will have one “free” game per month, starting with Destiny 2
- No achievements at launch, but they will apparently be introduced later
- No mods at launch, but this may be introduced later
- HID-compliant controllers, such as the Xbox One and PlayStation DualShock 4 will be supported by the Stadia
Nothing groundbreaking here. After a lot of fanfare, the Stadia seems to be coming back to earth. Will find out how good the Google Stadia really is when it launches on November 14.
