Respawn Announces New Stars Wars Game That May Not Suck

Star Wars games have not had the best track record the past few years under Electronic Arts stewardship. Some may say that EA has taken a big steaming pile of shit on the Star Wars franchise, the pinnacle being the Star Wars: Battlefront II loot crate debacle.

EA has a penchant for ruining franchises and slowly killing off the developers they acquire, once every ounce of goodness is squeezed from them.

One developer, under EA’s ownership that is really doing its best to stay relevant, almost to the contrary EA’s best efforts, is Respawn, makers of Titanfall 1 and 2 as well as the new hotness known as Apex Legends. Today they finally revealed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

In Fallen Order, you play as Jedi in hiding Cal Kestis, which kind of sounds like a nasty foot ailment.

I can totally picture my podiatrist telling me that I have a bad case of “Cal Kestis” and I need to apply really strong antibacterial ointment to my big toe or I’m going to lose the nail.

Anyway, Cal narrowly escapes Order 66, where the majority of his Jedi pals were killed off, but he’s discovered, so now he needs to kick ass while being hunted by the Galactic Empire.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a single player combat game, which I imagine will be like God of War. Seems to be a bit of a departure from your standard FPS which Respawn is known for, but they’re a competent developer which may just be able to pull it off, unless EA fucks it up for them with shitty directives, which they’re totally capable of pulling off as well.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is scheduled to release November 15.
