Everything You Wanted to Know About the Nintendo Switch

Nintendo finally revealed everything we wanted to know about the Switch.  I didn’t watch it, because it was late, and I’m old, and I have a 4-year-old, and I have a lame ass job, so I was asleep. I needed a crash course of what I missed. Just the most important stuff for now…

Will not be region locked – Cool. I’ll be able to get cool and obscure Japanese games on this thing and be an insufferable pain in the ass to all my friends.

Controllers will come in multiple colors – Okay….. Okay….

Screen Capture – You’ll be able to press a button on the controller and take a screen shot. Meh…

Battery lasts between 2.5 and 6 hours – That’s not a lot of time. I’d imagine that 2.5 hours is gaming time and the 6 hours is something less computational extensive, like the device just sitting there, like a brick, doing nothing. I was hoping that this thing would last me through long pain in the ass trips to the west coast. I suppose it will if the plug in my tiny economy class seat has an outlet that works.

Paid online service – Hey look, Nintendo is getting in on this, just like Sony and Microsoft. They’ll also give away NES or SNES game every month to subscribers.

Super Mario Odyssey – Comes out Holiday 2017. Doesn’t look like your typical Mario game, which I like.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild – This is going to be a launch title. This is awesome news.

Price: $299 – Sorry, but this is pricy. I was expecting $249 and would have squealed in delight if Nintendo launched this a $199. PS4 and Xbox One are cheaper than the Switch, and yes, they are older systems, but are still more powerful. I really thought Nintendo would try to undercut them.

Release Date: March 3, 2017 – That is right around the corner. We were all expecting March, but I thought that this would be later in the month. Fanboys better start staking out places to camp, the March weather can be very unpredictable. Wear layers.

And this is just a small taste. Of course, news on the web is all over the place. Some people love it and others are scratching their eyes out in pure rage.
