I’m not going to pretend that I’m a fan of Pokémon. I have nothing against the franchise, but I’ve never played any of the games and have no desire to do so.
With that said, many people do play play Pokémon and it’s a powerhouse franchise for Nintendo. So rumors that the series were heading to the Nintendo Switch was more of a “when” rather than an “if” scenario. Well, the “when” is apparently sooner than we think.
According to Eurogamer, the game is already well into development and will launch in 2017. According to Eurogamer’s sources, the title is going by the codename Pokémon Stars.
If this rumor is true, the Switch will be the first Nintendo home console to receive a main Pokémon adventure in twenty years. However, given the Switch will lead a double life of sorts, since it’s a portable and home console. I’ll let the gaming community debate that.
