It Appears Things Are Getting Icy Between Respawn and Their EA Overlords

I’m getting the feeling that there is no love lost between Respawn and EA.

First, EA decides to launch Titanfall 2 a week after Battlefield 1, perhaps stealing a bit of the Respawn developed title’s thunder. Then, EA starts throwing some Twitter shade, by bashing Activision, a publisher that many folks at Respawn used to work for and may have friends who still work there, leading to this:

This little rift pales in comparison to the latest development. During an interview with Glixel, some bad sentiments boiled to the surface again:

Glixel – Will you make another Titanfall game?
Vince Zampella – We don’t know yet. The game is, critically, a huge success. We’re really happy with all the reviews and the positive sentiment. Sales, it’s too early to tell. We’d definitely like to tell more of the story and the universe. I think it’s pretty safe to assume that we’ll explore more of it. EA might have announced more. Devin?

[Devin Bennett, a publicist for Electronic Arts, interjects, “What we’ve said is we’re committed to the franchise.”]
Vince Zampella – So, whatever the fuck that means.

Daaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmnnnnnnnn!

This is a shame. I like Titanfall 2 a lot and hope they continue the franchise. It just doesn’t appear that Respawn is in a great place right now.
